Uterine (Endometrial) Cancer: Post Christmas 2014 Reflections on “Christmases Yet to Come”

A Christmas Carol_1843_50%

Still my favorite story of all time, A Christmas Carol was published 171 years ago, on December 19, 1843.

Click the book to view the only existing manuscript version of the novella.

See it in person at the (J. Pierpont) Morgan Library & Museum in New York. Do take a look—it’s a treasure.

On that same date last year, 12/19/13, I posted my first Christmas reflections six days after undergoing total robotic hysterectomy and receiving my pathology report of Stage 1B, Grade 3 adenocarcinoma of the endometrium (lining of the uterus). Below, I reprise my Christmas posts from the vantage point of the third post, “Christmas Yet to Come – 2014.” Thankfully, this Christmas I remain cancer free, knowing with deep pain that not all of my uterine cancer sisters from 2013 have been as fortunate.

From this year’s vantage point of pondering “Christmas Yet to Come – 2015,” I wish a blessed and healthy year to all of my hystersisters, especially Kaz Molloy of Womb Cancer Support UK—and the same to all women everywhere who have or have had gynecologic cancers. May this angel, a Christmas gift from my mother, watch over each of you and grant you happy holidays for years to come.

  2. I think you have handled the challenges you have faced in the last year in an absolutely incredible way!! You have not only fought, and overtaken, the demon called cancer but you have passed so much encouragement and kindness to others who are in need of the same fortitude you have shown. Please keep up the good work. It is so appreciated by so many. I am so proud that you are my daughter. Love you always, Mom
